Unlocking Doors to the Past,

Opening Doors for a Better Future

Saturday, May 3rd, 6 PM

WCE Clubhouse

Mark your calendars for the Spring Benefit! This year The Woman’s Club of Evanston is proud to support Shorefront Legacy Center and their mission to collect, preserve and share the stories of Black individuals who have lived, sometimes invisibly, throughout Chicago’s suburban north shore.

Proceeds from the Spring Benefit will support the

Intergenerational Interview Project

The eight-week program will bring together local high school students and recipients of the City of Evanston’s historic local reparations fund. Guided by historians and journalists, students will gain the skills to conduct oral history interviews and immerse themselves in the elders’ personal stories that have not been comprehensively documented. This project provides a platform for their voices, illuminating the lived experiences behind the headlines. It hopes to ensure that future generations will need not repeat the far too frequent refrain of: “I did not know…”.
