We support local projects because that's why the Woman's Club of Evanston was founded. In 1889, a small group of bright, active women came together to
pursue their interests in cultural, philanthropic and civil activities and to improve their communities.

"Support from the Woman's Club of Evanston was a lifesaver for the YWCA's Shelter for Battered Women and Their Children. With the downturn
in the stock market, private foundations have had less income to distribute and we lost a major grant in 2002. The donation from the Spring
Benefit came at just the right time and was such a substantial and generous amount that we were able to weather that loss without cutting
services. Without funding from the Woman's Club, we literally would have turned away women and children who desperately needed our services.
We are grateful that the Woman's Club joined us in keeping women and children safe!"
Christie Dailey, Executive Director, YWCA's Shelter for Battered Women and Their Children
"The Woman's Club of Evanston is a generous and powerful force for good in our community. Every year its dedicated members hold two benefits
whose proceeds make a tremendous difference to the health and sustainability of area service organizations. Their vital support of Literature for All
of Us helps make it possible for us to continue to bring the rewards of reading and writing to young women and teen mothers through book group
discussions. Our book circles provide a safe and supportive environment where young women can share ideas, explore their strengths, find their
voices and be inspired to read to their children. Thank you to the Woman's Club for their tradition of robust support to so many worthy service
agencies. Their work is so very important to the spirit and meaning of community."
