Since its founding, the Woman's Club has been one of the area's most active organizations in raising funds and donating volunteer time for local charities.
We support local projects. It is the reason the Woman's Club of Evanston was founded in 1889. In its earliest years, the Woman's Club was known for its
active support of the Suffragest Movement and compulsory education. The club's efforts to improve health and sanitation in the community were ground-breaking.
One such project from this era was the establishment of a cottage for convalescing typhoid and smallpox victims that became the nucleus for Evanston Hospital.
Last year, the Woman's Club of Evanston raised over $120,000 for local charities, primarily those serving women and girls, the main focus of the Club's efforts.
In addition, Club members contributed over 5,000 hours of volunteer time to a number of such organizations.
